Booty n Bass

Delaware Boudoir Photographer

No matter how much you plan, there is always going to be something that throws you a curve ball. This boudoir session with Ms. M was going to be epic. She had a friend coming that was going to assist in providing the vape smoke for some of the photos, and we had several ideas planned that we thought would break the mold in normal boudoir photography. When I arrived to her home, she had planned on having a glass of wine to help loosen her up. We could not get the cork to budge… her cork screw opener was just twisting in itself, and I even bent my key trying something I saw on Youtube. On top of that, her friend couldn’t make it (She had a good excuse so we let her slide…This time). Ms. M was prepared though. She went out, bought her own vape pen (despite not being a smoker), and we ended up with some pretty breathtaking photos.

After some coughing, and some practice blowing the smoke we ended up with this epic image.

There is just something so magical about natural window light. The light coming through the glass and blinds basically acts like a softbox that is perfect for sculpting curves.

Using that same window, I just had Ms. M rotate away to create a more moody edge light.

Edge lighting + Black and White = LOVE!

When I showed her the photos, she was absolutely floored with how they turned out. When she saw this one, we both agreed that it would make a killer album cover. That album is now titled “Booty n Bass.”

When my clients aren’t pressed for time, this allows me to experiment (That’s actually my New Years Resolution word for the year). This was not an easy shot to take. One of the biggest issues I had was that the smoke was either covering her face, or not floating off the way I envisioned. When she blew the smoke hard, you could see the strain in her neck and jaw, but if she blew to softly then you couldn’t see her left eye. On top of that, the several takes were hard on her because she is not used to vaping. Ms. M was committed though, and through that hard work we were able to capture magic.
