Sarah and Corey (Part 2)

I can’t think of a better way to start and end my 2021 wedding year! These two kicked me off on January 2nd, and they are officially the last to grace the 2021 wedding blog. I met Sarah a few years ago when she was just a tadpole in the industry, and if you told me then that our relationship would cross all these milestones of awesomeness, I would not have believed you. Then you have Corey, her other half. I would say he would be one of the nicest dudes you’d ever meet, but he didn’t even offer me a beer all weekend. Just messing! I still get out of breath thinking about lugging all those tables at Vanderwende Acres with you man! We definitely need more hangouts in the years to come. I’m trying not to get long-winded, but this will be a longer-than-usual sneak peek. I love these guys, I love every single one of the guests, and it was so great seeing some great friends come together for these two.

Dressing up a toddler is basically a form of wrestling.

The best family members are the furry kind.

The manliest of toasts. Just straight liquor from the bottle.

The night before their wedding, everyone went out, partied in VIP, road mechanical bulls, and came back to the hotel to unwind till 3 in the morning. I am impressed.

Best eyes of the day.

Haven Street Ballroom is a pretty sweet venue. It’s right next door to an axe throwing place, and the opposite side is a brewery. What more could you want.

Some people came into wedding day ready to rage and party while others…

The money shot.

The fact that they all managed to cram into this little bathroom for this shot amazes me. Also Mya has the best fierce look.

All the epic hair was done by Tia and Paige, and the beautiful makeup by Victoria.

Some people pay good money for this kind of treatment. Julia does it all pro bono.

Coming undone right before the ceremony.

Sarah’s all grown up :’(

I had a mini heart attack while attempting this very photo. My shutter on my camera was not triggering so I had to use my backup to capture this. As Corey was descending upon me to get his group photos with the guys, I figured out that somehow I had inadvertently switched my settings to self-timer mode. It’s these moments that really make me thankful that I know my gear, and how to troubleshoot without showing the fear in my face.

Thurman and Fig with the amazing florals!

Could not even finish reading the letter Corey wrote her. She stopped part way through because the tears were just to much.

Speaking of tears <3

And Sarah’s reaction. This is love.

Shenanigan photos are my favorite photos.

All week the forecast showed that it was supposed to rain just after the ceremony. Sarah tried to convince Corey to do a first look so that we could do all the formal portraits before, but he wanted no part of that. The wind picked up, the temperature dropped, and not a single sprinkled descended until we were all inside.

It did not take long for it to get dark. Overcast skies mean there is no sunset or final moments of light. You just look back and realize “Wow it did get pretty dark.” Attempted a few creative shots before letting them go to cocktail hour.

Ally providing the life saving prescription of beer. Becca over here making me smile with her laughter from behind my computer.

Beginning to see a trend with how Sarah reacts to the men in her life weeping tears of joy.

“I can’t do it!”

“They say the best man’s speech is a good indicator of how long the groom lasts in bed. Well…everyone raise your glasses!”

When he wants to be the one twirling.

Corey “Chance, show me how much you love our photographer!”

Favorite dancer of the night is Julia, hands down. It’s either because she kept flinging random things from around her at me to get my attention, or because she danced with the ferocity that required her husband to constantly tuck her girls back in. Either way, she was the bomb.

Peyton’s dance face.

Second favorite dancer of the night.

Nick and Ally, this is your “nice” wedding portrait from the day.

Who else is lucky enough to get snow on their wedding night!? Left Ally in the background for the rawness.

Lots of tongues for a wedding.

And I am completely okay with that.

The trick with photographing Noah and Miranda is to have Miranda to one side otherwise you won’t see her.

That late night chicken.

This is Billy with the appropriate amount of wine in his system.

This is my second wedding experiencing a live band, and these guys were incredible! Goodman Fiske Band kept the dance floor on fire the entire evening.

The wedding was not even over, and Sarah told me I was dismissed to party for the rest of the night. I did not want this night to end. There was just too much going on, and I wanted to photograph every second of it. I know I probably missed out on a smidge by continuing with my work, but that’s all it was for me. Just a smidge. I know that these two are not going anywhere and that we have a lifetime of hanging out together. It still blows my mind that one day was all it took for this friendship to blossom with me, and I would not trade that for anything in the world. Love you two!
