Here we are, the beginning of my 2020 wedding season! I have known the groom, Elton, for quite a while now. It all started back in high school when I was really good friends with his older brother, and it later evolved into all of us working together as we each pursued a career in Respiratory Therapy. Needless to say, there is no better way to kick off a year of awesomeness than by celebrating the love of two people who are just that. The women, men, and children you are about to see are all collectively some of the most beautiful and hilarious individuals I have ever had the honor of being in the presence of. SO without further ado, welcome to Elton and Shaneen.
This was my first time photographing a wedding at Southern Belle. As soon as I walked in, I saw the stairs leading up to the second story loft. I knew that was where I wanted the dress to hang.
All the girls were just so classically beautiful.
Photo bombing a candid shot is totally okay when you are this adorable.

“Let’s take a selfie really Quick.” (Snaps photo and looks at it)…”Let’s take it again…”
Guys and shenanigans are my favorite.
I told Elton I wanted to get a photo of him tying his shoes so I had him sit down. He said “My best man should be the one tying my shoes.”
I love when couples talk in anticipation of the first look. The bursts of laughter is just pure love. Hey Elton and Shaneen, Up down slow slow, am I right!?
Being so close to another state, it was interesting to experience the different coronavirus regulations on how many people are allowed in a venue. The ceremony took place in Delaware, and the reception was in Maryland. So while only a select few got to witness the joining of two loves, the rest got to celebrate it afterwards.
“Can we do a thumbs up as a funny picture?”
Alright, get ready to see how happy these two make each other.
All the groomsmen were wearing a superhero shirt under their dress clothes. While we were gathering them all up, Edgar wanted to practice his rip open technique…Nailed it!
That sister love is unbeatable.
My favorite dancer of 2020 was just mesmerizing the way she was twirling her long dress. Ever single person on the dance floor that night was an amazing dancer though. It’s a good thing the floor was concrete because if it was wood, it would have been worn away long before the night ended.
They had his and her sombreros, and it was everything I could have ever wanted.
When you do a nice cake cutting, but you deliver a final blow before you sit down
Speaking of cake, each layer was a different flavor, so you better believe the Bride and Groom sampled each one.
Getting one child to look at the camera takes skill, getting two makes you legendary…capturing four at the end of the night all doing something different. That’s me right there.
I was across the room, crouched behind a table, the dance floor was full of people, but she still managed to see me and gave me a cheese. It’s okay, first wedding of the year so my ninja skills can only improve.
Coordinating a sparkler send off with little sparklers and a ton of people was definitely tough. As I am walking backwards I hear “It won’t light! Hurry!” It was a great end to a great day. Elton and Shaneen made my first wedding of 2020 one I will not forget. It was not comprised of family and friends, but of family by blood, and more family. I can’t wait for these two to start growing their own.
P.S. Elton once told me he wanted enough kids to start a soccer team +1 more for a sub.
