A pleasant wedding day in August is few and far between. We had a breeze blowing in from the bay, a cool summer night, and more dancers than the dance floor could contain. This wedding has the current record for the amount of times “watermelon farmer” has been said, and let me tell you, they know how to party. Scroll on to see the awesomeness that is Alyssa and Shawn.
Trying out an all in one detail shot.
All it takes is a wall to hide all the mayhem that is the bridal suite.
Whitney “I’m so glad you’re the one with the steamer because I would not trust myself.”
Shawn “I’m not very good.” Then proceeds to perfectly pitch each shot into the green.
Popping that deodorant like it’s champaign time.
Walked in to see Shawn’s groomsman watching Youtube on how to tie a bow tie. It’s been a while for me, but we made it happen.
A broken bow tie is not gonna slow down this Papa from seeing his little girl!
Alyssa and Shawn wanted to do their vows privately so that the moment remains their own.
The plan was to do all the formal portraits, except for family ones, prior to the ceremony. Just like weddings do, the timeline fell behind and guests were starting to arrive. Time to hide.
Flowers adding that extra dimension to a photo to make an already good potential shot into some special.
Smashed through family photos, did a few more bridal party photos, and headed into cocktail hour with style.
Someone yelling from the crowd “Those two had dancing lessons!”
Sneaking out for 5 more minutes of photos post dinner.
“The most expensive tires ever.”
“If I had a ticket to heaven, and you didn’t. I’d give mine away so I could see you in hell.”
Blue hour is so much harder to work in because there is basically no light and focusing is tricky, but you can’t beat that sky gradient.
Dance floor trains are always welcome, and the fuel for it provided by the legendary DJ Hector.
When you are too tall, and you keep hitting the chandelier.
“Take a photo of me rubbing lotion on her feet.”
That loving look <3
Catching up with coworkers from the past, and seeing how happy they are is the best.
Late night dinner snacks need to be the norm.
Favorite dancer of the night goes to the lady on the left. She started the train, always had the biggest grin on, and kept bouncing around all night.
I’ll finish that for you.
A private dance with your best friends and family packing away your day is the perfect way to cap off the night. I always tell people how quickly a wedding flies by, and these two experienced it first hand. You can plan all you want, but when you surround yourself with the best, you will not have anything to worry about.
