It’s insane how fast life can take a turn for the worse. Delaware is not considered tornado country, but on Monday at 3AM in little ol Laurel Delaware we got a taste of one. A handful of people unfortunately had to abandon their homes during this event to seek shelter, and one of them is a friend of mine who invited me. They woke up to the sounds of the storm tearing through their house, and a pecan tree coming through the roof. I went out with her family today as they ventured to see what pieces were left to pick. When you scroll through these photos, you’ll see a blue tarp covering a giant hole. That hole was the roof of Georgia’s room which is where she was sleeping when the tree burst through.
Trailers flipped over, windows smashed out of their home and vehicles, and fences torn down.
What was once their shed, is now just a pile of DEBRIS. As they walked through the wreckage they realized that some stuff was lost like the water pump, but they also found things that weren’t even theirs.
And here is the beautiful young lady herself sitting as close as she is allowed to get to her room.
Even with everything they own destroyed, they told me that they were so happy that everyone was able to make it out safe. Now we as a community need to band together to help them in their time of need. No donation is to small to help this family rebuild.
